Korean Air boosts cargo service to Seattle
KOREAN Air is to begin a thrice weekly Incheon-Los Angeles-Seattle freighter service on June 1, using a B747-400F aircraft.
An airline statement said that since June 2005, the air carrier has been providing cargo service to Seattle with its four weekly passenger flights to the city, which is home to Boeing's production-line as well as the headquarters of Microsoft and Starbucks.
With various industries such as vessel and automobile productions well-developed in the city, Seattle's air cargo market has great potential for growth. Moreover, the carrier believes its location between Vancouver, Canada and Portland, Oregon makes it an ideal northwestern American airfreight hub.
"With an addition of our cargo service to Seattle, we have substantially secured the main air cargo hub in northwestern region of America," said Jong Hee Lee, president and COO of Korean Air.
"We expect our domestic companies to enhance their competitive powers in exportation and our customers to enjoy the convenient services," Mr Lee added.
